Just one week ago, the Melbourne-based alternative pop folktronica artist Gordi, announced a series of “solo and intimate” North American dates, though several locations remained mysteriously crossed out on the DIY-style poster.
The local Chippewa Valley community finally has clarity (and a close-to-home show): On Sept. 23, Gordi will arrive at the Pablo Center at the Confluence (128 Graham Ave., Eau Claire) for a single evening of music, featuring friend and musical collaborator S. Carey.
The artist’s previous trek to the Chippewa Valley in August of last year featured a collaborative set with S. Carey at the Leona’s Pizzeria venue (406 Galloway St., Eau Claire), spotlighting melodies from their Like Plasticine record. That same “solo and intimate” spirit will surely grace the Pablo Center stage this fall, where Gordi will share tracks from their latest EP, Nylon – which reached fans through a quiet, advance release.
“Gordi's 2026 EP Nylon hit the charts before it was released,” the artist's webpage reads. "She recorded the body of work live-to-tape in a single afternoon — with no overdubs and no edits — and played the new songs to fans on her Australian tour, selling every single advance copy before the internet knew anything about it."
Amidst the physical divide between the Wisconsin rolling plains and Australia's sun-drenched coastal landscape, Gordi and S. Carey have been frequent collaborators. Their shared ties in the indie-folk music scenes and overlapping aesthetics have led to several joint projects including guest vocals on S. Carey and jazz trumpeter John Raymond's collaborative album, Shadowlands.
S. Carey also lent his voice to the Gordi track, "PVC Divide," on Like Plasticine – which they notably performed together at Leona's last fall; all the way back to Gordi's background vocals and support on S. Carey's 2018 solo album, Hundred Acres.
Presale for the one-night performance on Sept. 23 in the JAMF Theatre will be available to Pablo Center "Circle Members" first, at 10am on June 24; 10am on June 25 for Sustaining Member Presale; and at 10am on June 26 for public sale. Ticket pricing and other event details will be available online at pablocenter.org.
Gordi and S.Carey will perform together for a one-night show at 7pm on Sept. 23 inside the JAMF Theatre at the Pablo Center at the Confluence (128 Graham Ave., Eau Claire). View previous coverage of Gordi and S.Carey collaborations, online at VolumeOne.org.
