City Manager Stephanie Hirsch shared an exciting tidbit in her latest e-newsletter: A portion of Haymarket Landing’s river-facing commercial units will finally welcome a tenant.
According to the newsletter, the ground-level commercial units are “under contract” with the sale expected to close in March.
An official announcement won’t be made until the T’s are crossed and I’s are dotted, though Eau Claire Economic Development’s Kendall Williams did share the tenant will “be a great additional experience adjacent to the Pablo Center.”
Williams said the tenant will make a formal announcement, pending the sale, in the next few weeks. The commercial space in question totals about 12,000 square feet, she said.
The river-facing commercial spaces part of Haymarket Plaza have sat vacant since the project’s ribbon-cutting in 2019, though locals who were around then are likely to recall the tenant which originally intended to fill them: Foxconn.
Obviously, that project did not come to fruition, and in 2021 the ground floor units – a total of roughly 15,500 square feet – previously purchased by Foxconn were back on the market.
Years later, Haymarket Landing may finally see the developers' initial vision realized. What do you think is opening up shop there?
