Northwoods Health Services

Brittany Hughes founded the Menomonie clinic to offer something increasingly rare: affordable, judgement-free weight loss support and care

After years spent in nearly every corner of healthcare, from working as an EMT in rural communities, to emergency rooms, to travel nursing all over the country, and even volunteering in refugee camps in Greece — Brittany Hughes is not one to back down from a challenge.

One challenge she kept seeing again and again as a Nurse Practitioner was the same heartbreaking barrier for people seeking weight-loss support: a lack of affordable, accessible care.

When she founded Northwoods Health Services in 2023, she set out to change that. Since then, Brittany and her team have helped nearly 800 people reach their health goals, regain mobility, qualify for life-changing surgeries, and even fit into long-awaited wedding dresses.

Her commitment to medical weight loss is fueled by more than clinical expertise, it’s personal. Brittany has lost more than 60 pounds using the same evidence-based methods she now offers her patients, allowing her to relate deeply to the people she serves.

One of the most effective tools in her toolkit is GLP-1 therapy. Originally developed for diabetes, GLP-1 medications quickly gained momentum for their profound impact on appetite, cravings, and metabolic health.

But as demand increased, so did a familiar obstacle: cost. For many patients, GLP-1 treatment felt out of reach.

That’s exactly where Northwoods Health Services steps in. Known for its comprehensive and personalized weight-loss programs, the clinic builds fully customized plans for every patient. These may include GLP-1 medications, lifestyle support, and additional options like hormone replacement therapy for both men and women- all offered with clear, transparent pricing.

Though its home base is in Menomonie, Northwoods Health Services extends its care throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota with convenient Telehealth appointments, ensuring that rural communities have access to the same support as larger cities. The mission is simple: bridge the gap between patients and the treatments that could transform their lives.

“Rural patients often have limited access to affordable treatment options,” Brittany said. “Because I’m on this same health journey, I understand their challenges firsthand. That’s why keeping services accessible and transparently priced is such a priority for us.”

Much of the confusion surrounding weight loss medications comes from misconceptions about sustainability or cost. Brittany is quick to correct that.

“There is no one-size-fits-all solution,” she said — which is why the clinic emphasizes monthly follow-ups, nutrition education, healthy habit coaching, and even a partnership with a nutritionist who creates monthly meal plans and recipes for patients.

With the New Year on the horizon, it’s easy to get swept up in resolutions that don’t stick. At Northwoods Health Services, the focus isn’t on temporary promises, it’s on sustainable change.
