CENTRAL HEALTH

continues its mission to address neuropathy amongst patients

It’s been a year since we last caught up with Dr. Lucas Emmerich, the primary chiropractor behind Central Health in River Prairie (1451 Bluestem Blvd Suite C, Altoona). After just over a year of business in the area, he’s still making strides with Central Health’s mission and vision: to shed more light on the root causes of symptoms that structural chiropractic care can address.

Having been born and raised in the Chippewa Valley, Dr. Emmerich’s community roots were already strong. However, his continued service to local patients over many months helped him establish an even deeper connection within his hometown.

“This first year was really exciting to get established (in the area) from a clinical standpoint,” Dr. Emmerich said. “To be able to see the change these patients undergo is super motivating — whether it’s regaining their independence or improving their quality of life.”

Dr. Emmerich continues to specialize in structural chiropractic methods — using state-of-the-art technology — which focus on the relationship between the spine’s structure and its function throughout the body. As the name implies, Central Health’s services aim to address multiple issues simultaneously, with the patient at the core of every decision and specialized treatment plan.

Beyond chiropractic care, Dr. Emmerich’s services also address the growing surge of neuropathy amongst local patients. Neuropathy, he shared, consists of nerve tissue damage to a person’s extremities (hands or feet) which — depending on the severity — can spread and affect other areas of the body.

He frequently sees patients undergoing chemotherapy or suffering from diabetes — both leading causes to neuropathy — who seek ways to mitigate their condition in non-invasive ways.

“The earliest signs and symptoms (of neuropathy) would feel like a pain, tingling, or numbness which usually starts in hands, fingers, or toes, feet,” Dr. Emmerich said. “As that progresses, (the pain) can start to work its way up towards the center of the body.”

For patients, neuropathy can impact a person’s balance and their ability to perform everyday tasks and typical routines. Before symptoms worsen, this is where Central Health fulfills its purpose and provides accessible treatment plans for patients, Dr. Emmerich shared.

“Part of my responsibility is to inform (patients) that there are other avenues to address the root cause as opposed to just managing their symptoms,” Dr. Emmerich said.

Central Health uses a multi-faceted approach, combining regenerative and non-invasive therapies, nutritional counseling, and hands-on treatment to address the root cause of neuropathy.

In addition to these three treatment pillars at Central Health, Dr. Emmerich is committed to educating the Chippewa Valley community about neuropathy on a wider scale.

Already driven by a community-focused approach, he offers free educational programs and volunteer services throughout the area. Dr. Emmerich has connected with residents and visitors through the L.E. Phillips Senior Center (1616 Bellinger St., Eau Claire) with these very goals in mind.

“I love doing that type of work and (providing) an opportunity for people — that think they might have symptoms of neuropathy — who want more information,” Dr. Emmerich said.

The feedback shows, he shared, as attendees and prospective patients express both surprise and appreciation for learning about previously unknown health solutions that can improve their body’s well-being.

Central Health’s services toward neuropathy and structural chiropractic care benefit folks from all walks of life, from older seniors to young families and their children, Dr. Emmerich said.

Whether you’re seeking relief from chronic pain, hoping to improve your internal balance, or simply wanting to spend more quality time with your grandchildren — the first step to unlock your body’s complete potential can begin with a consultation at Central Health.

“If you think there is a potential you have neuropathy, get it checked out as soon as possible,” Dr. Emmerich said. “The sooner we identify a problem and start to address it, the better off the outlook is (for a patient).”
