Check Out the Winners of ArtsWest 44
library’s annual juried show received entries from 104 artists statewide
The winners of the 44th installment of the Wisconsin ArtsWest juried exhibit were announced recently. Wisconsin artists 18 years or older were encouraged to submit artwork, and the competition received a total of 171 entries by 104 artists.
The Best of Show award was given to Ashley Wittling of Chippewa Falls for her piece, Duality – which happened to be the cover art for Volume One’s April 6 issue! First prize went to Don Olson of Chetek for Whiplash Lake; second prize went to Dali Table by Ross Nordquist of Eau Claire; and third place when to You’re a Broken Record by Madilyn Vetter, also from Eau Claire.
The honorable mentions include It Is What It Is by Denise Presnell of Sheboygan, Heliopora by Dennis Robert of Milwaukee, Ancient Doorways 2022 by Sheri Klein of Menomonie, Breezin’ by Jamie Bowers of Eau Claire, and Omega Point by Mary Hermanson of Eleva.
Winners were revealed during the exhibit’s Reception and Awards program on Thursday, March 30. You can see the exhibit in person at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library until May 23 as well as online. The juror this year was Frank Juárez, an award-winning art educator, former gallery director, artist, author, and speaker.
