IS YOUR PUP HAVING A RUFF DAY? CBD can help with pain and anxiety in your fluffy friends, according to CBD experts.

Looking for natural ways to help relieve discomfort for your furry friend? Try CBD-infused treats for pets!

Melissa Bellovary, owner of Your CBD Store (1418 S. Hastings Way, Eau Claire), says CBD offers several health benefits for dogs, cats, and other animals. Like humans, animals have an endocannabinoid system which allows pain and inflammation receptors to receive benefits from CBD. While formal studies about the long-term effects of CBD have yet to be conducted, pet owners suggest CBD can help relieve pain and reduce anxiety.

Eau Claire dog owner Emma Steiler said she gives her 12-year-old dog, Sadie, CBD tincture during thunderstorms to help reduce anxiety. “Without CBD, she pants and shakes during thunderstorms and hides in the shower,” Steiler said. “When I first started giving her CBD, she actually napped. … That is a huge difference for her.”

Bellovary’s 15-year-old hunting dog suffers from arthritis. Before CBD, she was “gimpy and sore and wouldn’t even jump on a chair,” she said. When Bellovary gave her dog CBD, “within two days she was running around like she was young.”

Bellovary said all her pet-related CBD products are similar to a standard treat; they’re made from organic ingredients, such as yellow peas, dried potatoes, or cranberries. The CBD hemp extract is then added to form a CBD-infused treat.

Bellovary’s products contain no detectable amounts of THC (the psychoactive component of cannabis) and they are third-party tested, so you won’t have to worry about the quality of your treats. (Only the best for your pets!)

At Your CBD Store, pet owners can choose among various CBD-infused treat flavors such as steak bites, wavy bacon, or jerky sticks, or organic natural, bacon, or peanut butter tinctures depending on their pet’s personal preference.

Whether you choose to feed your pet CBD-infused treats or sprinkle CBD tincture on top of their food, Bellovary recommends introducing CBD at a low dosage. “A small amount goes a long way,” she said. “Start low, then work your way up.” Bellovary suggests you could even break a CBD-infused treat in half for smaller animals.

Not sure about CBD treats yet? Bellovary says she always offers samples so pet owners can take them home to let their pets give it a try.
