Are you ready to move and mosh, Eau Claire? Are you ready to scream “I DO”?Those chants tore through the floorboards on Oct. 8 as Minneapolis-based Gully Boys kicked off the “My Big Fat Gay Tour” with a night to remember in Eau Claire.

Joining the punk rock outfit in Eau Claire at LIVE at LEONA’s (406 Galloway St., Eau Claire) was Pollyanna, a “a loud abrasive power punk band with pop structures.”

Gully Boys bandmates Kathy Callahan (vocals, rhythm guitar), Mariah Timm (guitar, vocals), Natalie Klemond (bass, vocals), and Nadi McGill (drums, vocals) personally curated every single opening act for the entire road trip.

Pollyanna greeted concertgoers with cathartic, guttural shrieks and intense renditions of their latest catalog, with songs from Weirdo standing out as crowd favorites.

Gully Boys also revived dress-up culture for the tour; My Big Fat Gay Tour opened with a “wedding” motif and its forthcoming show dates promise nights dedicated to clowns, insects, emo nostalgia and beyond.

Scattered throughout the pizzeria venue, concertgoers and musicians embraced themed attire with floral bouquets, tailored suits and lace-trimmed bridal gowns – each with their own punk personalizations.

The band’s curatorial eye continued through the merch table, too. Custom items offered fans everything from personalized thongs to exclusive keepsakes from their self-titled release, Gully Boys.

Adorned in a white gown (per the show’s theme), I too couldn’t help but lose control alongside the rest of the room as Gully Boys tore through fan-favorites like “Spit” (which did inspire Leona’s specialty drink menu of “Gully Spit” and “Hold The Spit”).

Tracks including “Break” and “Mother” were also some of the most captivating indie rock songs performed on Thursday night.

Of course, the group gave a shout out to their last local appearance at the Eaux Claires music festival earlier this summer. Nadi said the festival was a personal highlight of their entire year – a well-deserved nod to the local crowd.
