Locals gathered together from 3-7pm on this September for a bike ride, poker run and park crawl fundraiser across downtown Eau Claire. Aptly named “Vegathon,” the event raised funds to support the family of local Matt Oliverson – known to many as Matt Vega – following his passing.

With a $20 buy-in for cyclists, skaters, walkers and runners, its "players" would score a card at each stop, with interactive checklist tasks throughout such as hugging trees, riding the pump track, flying down the Carson Park zip line – or picking up trash along the way.

Participants gathered at Owen Park in Eau Claire between 2:30pm and 3pm, where they secured a map to guide through each station. Vegathon's route continued to Cannery Park toward Phoenix Park, then Carson Park, before looping right back to Owen Park for the grand finale.

The Wet Stetsons – a regional folk, "jamgrass-country" band – performed an an acoustic set around 7pm at the Owen Park amphitheater stage, leading into a 9pm group ride to the Mousetrap Tavern (311 S Barstow St., Eau Claire) where Woodland Spring closed out the night.

With proceeds going straight to Oliverson's family, plenty of laughs and songs were shared at the first-time event in downtown Eau Claire – just take a look!
