"It takes a great deal of courage to stand alone even if you believe in something very strongly." These very truths are echoed by one of 12 jurors in the latest production by Eau Claire's own Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild.

"Twelve Angry Men," which ran at The Grand Theatre (102 W Grand Ave., Eau Claire) from June 5-7, tells the story of a 19-year-old young man following trial for the fatal stabbing of his father.

The American courtroom drama was originally written by playwright Reginald Rose and first broadcasted as a television play in 1954. The production has since been adapted to the stage and shown across the country and now, Eau Claire.

"He doesn't stand a chance," mutters the guard as the 12 jurors are taken into the bleak jury room.

What at first appeared as an open-and-shut case quickly becomes an unraveling story where one of the jurors stands alone – advocating for the boy – to reveal new evidence and uncover "reasonable doubt."
