On Friday, June 5, President Donald Trump became the first sitting president to visit Chippewa Falls in over 20 years. After landing at the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport that afternoon, Trump arrived to Custer Farms (5852 Co. Rd. T, Chippewa Falls) for a planned roundtable focusing on agriculture.

While the event was slated to begin at 3pm, loyal supporters – and protestors – flocked to the Chippewa Falls farm hours earlier. The roundtable itself was held in a large pole barn, with roughly 800-1,000 seats inside. 

An estimated 500 additional people stood just outside the barn, once those interior seats were filled, remaining there even during on-and-off rainfall.

Alongside Trump, the roundtable included U.S. Representatives Tom Tiffany and Derrick Van Orden; farmers (Fall Creek's Matt Krenz, Kewaunee County's Jamie Witcpalek, Chippewa Falls's Dennis Hawkins, among others); NFL Hall of Famer and farmer Joe Thomas; former Leinenkugel's president Jake Leinenkugel; and even an Olympian, in Jordan Stolz, among others. 

While organized as an ag-focused discussion, Trump spoke for about 45 minutes straight mostly on other, myriad topics. Those included trade deals and promises of economic relief in the near future; the midterm elections (with plenty of Democrat-aimed disses); the war in Iran; his projects in Washington, DC, among others.
