A dual celebration of local artistry and forthcoming park programming, Altoona's River Prairie Festival returned on Saturday, May 9 – Mother's Day weekend! – with activities fit for the whole family.
Returning favorites and new demonstrations and activities were held throughout the day, starting at 10am and ending around 4pm. A wide range of happenings stretched across River Prairie Park (Front Porch Pl, Altoona), including a one-hour cardio drumming class, glitter tattoos, a cribbage tournament, flower planting, the "How to Grow A Giant Pumpkin" beginners demonstration and more.
Live music has been part of River Prairie Festival since its debut in 2018, with this year's lineup led by the organizers of Graham Jams, a popular DIY basement venue in Eau Claire. The collaboration with River Prairie Fest, named Graham Fest, brought local and regional acts to the park's amphitheater: Eau Claire's Affidavit, Home Stretch and Yomchi; Varsity Club, Ira and Connor McLaren.
