The Chippewa Valley's first Arena League football team, The Eau Claire Axemen, played their second game at home on Saturday, June 14, at The Sonnentag Center. While the team's inaugural season began with a stumble – the Axemen cancelled their premier game in May due to leasing issues between its ownership group and The Sonnentag Center – the June 14 game was met with enthusiasm from local fans.

The recent fast-paced game may not have ended in the Axemen's favor – 46-55, falling to the Missouri St. Joseph Goats – a promising season is now underway.
