For most of those celebrating Thanksgiving, the holiday means food galore, tuning into the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and family gatherings. For others , it also signals the return of the Festival Foods Turkey Trot run/walk event. Held this past Thursday, Nov. 28, simply registering for the event – which features an untimed two-mile walk, two-mile fun run, timed five-mile run, and two-mile dog jog – earned participants an event T-shirt and race-day bib, coupons, and a six-inch pumpkin pie.
Statewide, the Festival Foods Turkey Trot saw a record number of walkers and runners, totaling a reported 34,886 participants. In Eau Claire, there were 3,476 participants, the local event benefiting the YMCA and Boys and Girls Club.
