Mary at Elk Lake
Back in 1974, Mary Schlais was supposedly hitchhiking from Minnesota to Chicago, unfortunately never making it to her destination. Police believed that Mary’s killer had picked her up, murdered her and pushed her body over the dam at Elk Lake. Reports of her apparition cloud the area. Fishermen and a local woman have commented on strange and even daily encounters from Mary. Her case was never closed. Thus, leaving us with the suspicion that her haunting occurs because of her sad, unfinished story.

Phantom Man of Highway 12 in Baraboo
Although no one quite knows whom the “Phantom Man” really is, since motorists have never actually picked him up, this ghost hitchhiker has been seen up and down Highway 12 near Baraboo and the Dells. Usually a place of family fun and high spirits, the hitchhiking man has really stirred up some commotion in town. He’s been described as wearing a green army jacket and pacing back and forth. I wouldn’t recommend offering up a seat in your ride.

Riverside Cemetery in Appleton
Kate Blood, a supposed witch, child-killer, and murder victim (at the hands of her owb husband), is infamously buried at Riverside Cemetery. Intense paranormal activity has been reported onsite. Some of which include a vanishing apparition and even blood dripping from her very own headstone. Perhaps a visitation past dusk isn’t the best idea.
