Totally Gross National Product reunites

Poliça
Poliça – Totally Gross National Product's hot commodity.

The long-time curators of weird music label/collective Totally Gross National Product are back with a vengeance, relaunching with a 10-song sampler mix and an appropriately bizarre segment on The Current, which announces new music and new members to the Minneapolis label.

TGNP started with Eau Clairians Ryan Olson (Solid Gold, GAYNGS, Marijuana Deathsquads) and Drew Christopherson (Poliça) when they moved to Minneapolis, looking to showcase "weird music." It quickly gained success behind a number of early bands (like Mel Gibson and the Pants and Digitata) and has since grown to encompass many of the founders' offshoots and friends.

The new Totally Gross National Product is expanding beyond a record label; they'll also be using their newly designed website to offer curated content (seemingly anything they find interesting) and a 24-hour streaming radio station.

Joining the original TGNP crew is Justin Vernon – a collaborator in GAYNGS and longtime friend of TGNP – and Lazerbeak – a member of the Doomtree hip-hop collective in Minneapolis.

And it looks like they'll need the extra help: TGNP has nine releases slated between now and September, as well as a monthly concert series at Icehouse in Minneapolis.

You can hear their interview, ten new songs from TGNP bands,
and more over at The Current.
