Tapes 'n Tapes is performing at the MidWest Music Fest in Winona on April 19,
as are 119 other bands.

The MidWest Music Fest was born a few years back from AmeriCorp volunteer Sam Brown’s desire to bring together more than 70 bands and musical acts to raise funds for local non-profit organizations in Winona, Minn. Loosely modeled on Portland’s MusicfestNW and Austin’s SXSW, MWMF is now in its 3rd year as an all-ages, all-genres, alcohol free, volunteer-driven three-day summer festival. This year’s Fest runs April 19-21 throughout Winona’s downtown, and it’s a mega-ambitious version of the past two, spanning 3 days with 120+ acts in 17 venues. International headliners – including folk-legend Greg Brown, Kimya Dawson (made famous by the Juno soundtrack), indie-rock icons Tapes 'n Tapes – will be alongside Midwest stars like Toki Wright, 4onthefloor, Charlie Parr, Ben Weaver and dozens more regional acts. MWMF strives to be the event "where music and community meet.” This is an admirable goal that we here in Eau Claire and the CV know a little something about. Sam who is one busy man right now is still taking on volunteers to help out and learn the music festival ropes (good skills to have). Then come April we can head west and enjoy the largest music festival in the region (so far) on the east bank of the 3rd coast.
