UW-Stout design student racks up award
UW-Stout senior Michael Rosen joined a growing list of Stout design students to gain some accolades for their work. Dang, Stout. First it was a pizza box, then sunglasses, and now Rosen's coat rack.
The Torii Rack as it's called was designed for a class project and Rosen entered it into the Doug Mockett & Company design competition. He promptly forgot about the entry, but was reminded when he received a letter saying he'd won. For winning, Rosen received a trophy, $1000, and the California company will patent and begin to produce the product. Rosen will receive royalties on every item sold.
The rack was recognized for it's versatility and simple design. The hooks slide to accomodate larger coats and more hooks can be added.
Rosen, who's from Eau Claire, has said his dream is to walk into a store and see his product for sale, so if he makes it to California, his dream may come true.
