Wisconsin milk production has spilled over to a new state record. Let’s raise our glasses to the 1.27 million hard-working Sconnie cows that helped break this record. We couldn’t have done it without them. Their valiant efforts squeezed out a whopping 26.1 billion pounds of milk – an impressive 20,646 pounds per cow.

After much mathematical scrutiny (and the help of wolframalpha.com), our in-house algebraic milk experts have determined a few astonishing facts that might help illustrate the udder-ly impressive milk record:

• If all of Wisconsin’s 2011 milk were poured into Eau Claire County, we’d all be slogging through a quarter-inch of milk.

• Perhaps more impressively, it would take two Great Pyramids of Giza's worth of milk to equal the mass we produced in 2011.

Sadly, Wisconsin still comes in second to California's milk production, but the Golden State had better watch out, says Cheesey, a local Holstein, because Wisconsin cows "are coming for them"
