Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. hosted their annual awards banquet last week to honor local businesses in a variety of categories. The winners were chosen by a public online survey with a few hundred respondents.

One big winner was Brent Douglas. The Brent Douglas Art Gallery won the award for best new business and Brent Douglas Flowers for Everyday was presented with best renovation.

Other notable awards were given out to Houlighans Steak and Seafood for Restaurant of the Year, the Sculpture Tour for Best New Event, First Fridays for Best New Promotion and Mayo Clinic Health System, which won Development of the Year for their Pediatric and Adolescent location.

Volume One's own Local Store picked up some swag at the event: Best Retail Store and Most Improved Facade.

A couple individuals were also honored. Linda Soltis-Schroeder was awarded Volunteer of the Year and Bob Krause was given the Dedicated Service Award.
