Dancing, Dinner and … Rocky Horror?
Kudos to Houligans Steak and Seafood Pub, Micon Downtown Cinema and the Eau Claire School of Dance.
They’ve teamed up to give couples whom have slipped into monotony something …. random and romantic to do on Saturday July 16.
So slap those kids with a babysitter and set out to attend Date Night Downtown (add several hearts behind this name). This event costs $75 per couple and 20% of the proceeds from this event will be going straight to the Children’s Museum.
Couples will start with an hour long dance class which is co-run by Miki Hegg and Stephanie Houdek-Kling at the ECSOD. These moves will be for all skill levels so even if your husband professes his inability to Hokey Pokey he can still attend.
After couples get their adrenalin pumping they will meander down the street and get some wickedly fabulous food and drink at Houligans. (Which we all know has some of the best food in town.)
After dinner, couples will hog both sides of the sidewalk as they walk hand-in-hand to the movies at the Micon Cinema. Think that this is some cliché dinner and a movie?
Oh, no you didn't.
This movie will be something artsy, something full of dancing, something romantic, something you haven’t seen in a while … and probably a musical.
Current plans expect to show the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but this is not set in stone. Does this sound random enough to be romantic? Well, opposites attract. This odd pairing of events is just wacky enough to work.
Dan Olson, a coordinator from the Micon Downtown Cinema said, “It’s gonna be a fun time. Miki Hegg knows how to put on a real good dance class. Houligans has amazing food. This is for couples to do something they normally wouldn't do.”
