In case you haven’t heard, The Red Parrot Lounge’s (1700 S Hastings Way) in-house swing band has been playing free Tuesday night shows, and tonight (August 25) is one of those nights. A little parrot told us the swing nights will be continuing in September with a bit more hype added to the mixture.

They encourage swing dancing, of course. So if you’re into that, huzzah. If you’re unsure of yourself in terms of swing dancing, trust that the fun is not dependant on you becoming one of those folks from high school that made you desperately wish you could dance, and after spending several fruitless hours surfing the internet and practicing in front of a mirror, you discover that, unfortunately, you simply cannot dance. *Sigh.* The music is as rare around these parts as it is energizing, so just come for a drink and some tunes if you want to be cool. If you want to be even cooler, you can wear a tailored suit complete with fedora and jazz shoes (a personal recommendation).
