Open year-round, Lake Wissota (18127 County Highway O, Chippewa Falls) boasts 6,300 acres of water and a 285-foot swimming beach, providing many opportunities for fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and water skiing. Lake Wissota State Park also has hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails for more adventures. With various beaches to choose from, the Chippewa River is an excellent choice for a beach day, and while you’re there you can take a relaxing tube ride down the river. If you’re looking for a great fishing and swimming opportunity, check out Lake Holcombe, located in Chippewa and Rusk counties. This flowage on the Chippewa River is alive with walleye, musky, panfish, largemouth and smallmouth bass, northern pike, sturgeon, and catfish. – Stephanie Janssen
