The perfect excuse to treat yourself to a Jay Ray’s sub sandwich is here: a fundraiser for animals in need of a home.

Local businesses Jay Ray’s and 715 Rentals/715 Excavating & Demolition have teamed up to create “The 715” sub sandwich – made with Italian sausage, marinara, provolone and oregano (add Giardiniera for a spicy kick!) – and donate a portion of its sales to the Eau Claire Community Humane Association (ECCHA).

That specialty sandwich – $3 of which will go toward ECCHA – is only available during the month of August, meaning folks have exactly one week left to snag one at Jay Ray's (1907 Brackett Ave., Eau Claire). 

As shared in a recent media release, ECCHA takes in hundreds of animals annually. In 2025, their intake included 1,604 animals with 1,135 animals finding their adoptive homes.

ECCHA relies heavily on community support, partnerships and donations to provide shelter, food, medical treatment and care for its animals – all of which will benefit from The 715 sandwich fundraiser.

“This partnership is an easy and delicious way for people to support a local business while helping animals right here in the Chippewa Valley,” the 715 Rentals team said.

The Eau Claire Community Humane Association also reunited 245 lost pets with the owners, performed 337 spay and neuter procedures and saw over 5,700 hours of volunteer service during 2025. The local nonprofit takes in dogs, cats, guinea pigs and other animals.
