If you haven’t diverted your eyes from the road while driving down Golf Rd. Lately, you may have missed the closure of Cousin’s Subs – and the opening of a new Mexican restaurant.

According to its social medias, Ceci’s Taqueria (2605 Golf Rd., Eau Claire) opened up shop as a family-owned business around the beginning of the year. While serving up specials like homemade pozole and tamales, a staple simple menu features familiar favorites: tacos and enchiladas, carne asada, tortas, tacos and more.

Swing by any day of the week for a sit-down or takeout meal. Google lists the new restaurant’s hours as 10am-9pm, Tuesday-Friday; 10am-10pm on Saturday; 10am-9pm on Sunday; and noon to 9pm on Monday.

Somethin’ fruity is afoot

The Midwest isn’t necessarily known for its cutting-edge style or on-top-of-trends mentality (not complaining, just saying). However, there’s a new viral treat making the rounds online – and in Eau Claire. From some internet sleuthing, it looks like the trend originated with Propitious Mango ice cream (a popular Asian treat), but has since taken off with similar spin-off creations.

It’s a fruit-shaped, cream-filled pastry that could be described as mousse-like. A semi-hard outer coating cracks open with a bite, revealing flavorful cream; mango, raspberry and apple are some of the popular flavors.

In Eau Claire, you can snag these viral fruit-shaped treats at Amerasian Market (2116 Cameron St.) in the refrigerated section and at Sweet Boba House (2602 Craig Rd.). As of the end of February, Amerasian Market had about nine flavors: strawberry, peach, mango, grape and more. Sweet Boba House posts on its social medias when the treats are in stock, so check in on Facebook or Instagram before swinging by!
