Faith Freedlund would have loved to have been a flower child of the ‘60s. Yet she believes she was meant to bring that movement of peace and love to today’s society instead.
Freedlund, who goes online by FaithFrequencies, is bringing Chippewa Vallians her third community event, dubbed Unity Groove 2025, on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 7pm-1 am at Eau Claire's Unity Center (1808 Folsom Ave.).
According to Freedlund’s news release, Unity Groove is a peace‑focused and humanity‑centered festival that celebrates cultural diversity through music and the arts. “By turning diversity into a superpower, we aim to dissolve mental barriers and unite people on the dance floor,” she wrote.
“Exploring diverse cultures, we create with the intention to nourish expansion of our hearts and minds – through spiritual connection,” the release continues. “We are dedicated to being community built, with an emphasis on giving back to activist-centered organizations.”
Unity Groove will kick off with a “Cosmic-Earthly Rave” featuring live DJs, laser lights, and mesmerizing visuals. There will also be live art installations, performances, and interactive spaces as well as the "Orbit Oasis" where participants can chill out, meet up with an artist for a special henna or neon design, or play games.
The "Enlightened Elixir Lounge" will offer drinks, snacks, and trinkets for purchase alongside limited Unity Groove merch. Astrology readings will also be available from 7-9pm, provided by Sara ComeauAstrology, who specializes in extraterrestrial connection, intuitive guidance, and past-life readings.
Beginning at 10:15pm, attendees will move to Unity Center's outdoor Peace Garden for a special fire performance by the Torch Sisters, a locally-based collective of flow artists, fire spinners, and aerialists.
This season's Unity Groove event will benefit the Global Sumad Flotilla, a coalition of activists delivering direct medical care and food supplies to those living in Gaza, Palestine; and Doctors Without Borders, an international humanitarian medical non-governmental organization (NGO) that delivers emergency care to people affected by crisis, conflict, and disease, where care is limited.
