The Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra is pulling out all the stops for this year's season finale, and you won't want to miss a single note.
“New Frontiers: Mahler's Resurrection Symphony” will be held at 7:30pm on Friday, May 9 at the Pablo Center (128 Graham Ave.) in Eau Claire. The showcase will spotlight an impressive sequence of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 2, "Resurrection.”
Anna Rybicki, executive director of the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra, said this will be a particularly meaningful concert for both attendees and performers; closing out the orchestra’s 50th anniversary season.
“This has been a time where we have been looking back at our history and looking forward to the future of the organization,” Rybicki said. “We thought that Mahler's ‘Resurrection’ symphony was a fitting way to end this historic season — it itself is a journey from uncertainty to new frontiers.”
The show will feature an orchestra of 80 musicians on- and off-stage, Chippewa Valley Festival Choir singers, and Chorale NouvEAU singers, with Christine Amon and Emily Sternfeld-Dunn as vocal soloists.
Music will fill the Pablo Center's lobby prior to the concert, thanks to the Memorial High School Chamber Orchestra, as well as afterward, featuring The Tyler Lustek Confluence. Attendees can expect complimentary champagne, non-alcoholic drinks, and dessert bites to accompany the celebratory evening, Rybicki said.
“We just want to include as many members of our community as possible,” Rybicki said. “We think that that just enhances the experience for both the musicians and the audience.”
