The end-of-year Jamf Winter Medallion Hunt is returning to the Chippewa Valley, running from Dec. 26 to Jan. 2. In partnership with the Chippewa Valley Museum and the Eau Claire Sculpture Tour, the hunt will provide education on local history, leading to a grand prize: Babe’s Bucket, a Micon Cinemas bucket containing more than $500 in prizes from local businesses.
Those taking part will find clues at the hunt’s Facebook page; this year, the hunt is known as the Clearwater Countdown. According to organizer Andy Brown, “The daily clue stanzas will lead them to a number of words, items, or things at a location. Those are not the number of things at the medallion’s location, but just a clue word. Put the clue words together and find the medallion’s location.”
New this year is incentive for participants if the medallion is found early. A sticker will be placed at the medallion location, allowing people to be “Second Finder” or “Other Finder” and win prizes.
According to Brown, the principles of winter recreation and fun – combined with learning about the area – are the main aspects of the hunt. “And like our tag line says, ‘Learn History. Support Local. Have Fun!’ ” he adds.
