Chippewa Valley residents who need urgent medical attention will soon have two new options for care.

OakLeaf Clinics announced Monday, June 10, that it is adding two urgent care locations to its roster: a Chippewa Falls location, which opened June 10, and a Menomonie location, which will open Monday, June 17. The services are part of the Chippewa Valley medical community’s ongoing reaction to the loss of two emergent rooms – at Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s hospitals – which were closed earlier this year by Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS).

OakLeaf Clinics, a part of the Eau Claire-based OakLeaf Medical Network, said these are the first urgent care facilities they have launched. “Adding urgent care capacity has been one of the highest priorities for OakLeaf Clinics since HSHS made the announcement that it was closing its hospitals and the Prevea clinics in western Wisconsin,” Dr. Erik Dickson, medical director for urgent care at OakLeaf Clinics, said in a media release. “Thousands of patients in Chippewa Falls, Menomonie, and the surrounding areas that need urgent treatment can now be treated at these urgent care facilities. We hope that having this urgent care capacity will mean that Eau Claire emergency rooms will see fewer patients, thus helping them lower wait times.”

The Chippewa Falls urgent care location is inside OakLeaf’s existing clinic at 855 Lakeland Drive, on the city’s north side, not far from the former St. Joseph’s Hospital. It will be open 8am to 5pm Monday-Friday through the remainder of June. Beginning July 1, it will be open 8am to 8pm Monday-Friday; 8am to 2pm Saturday and Sunday; and 8am to noon on holidays.

The Menomonie urgent care is in a new OakLeaf location, 2919 Stout Road, which was purchased from Prevea and will house both the urgent care and the Foot & Ankle Clinic. From June 17 to June 30, the Menomonie urgent care will be open 8am to 5pm Monday-Friday. Beginning July 1, it will be open 8am to 8pm Monday-Friday; 8am to 2pm Saturday and Sunday; and 8am to noon on holidays.

OakLeaf said it has hired previous Prevea employees to staff the urgent care locations. OakLeaf Clinics operates 11 clinics in the region, and is part of OakLeaf Medical Network, which encompasses more than 350 medical providers across 31 clinics.
