IMPERFECTLY PERFECT.
NOTHING TO BE AFRAID OF. Thomas Kann – known musically as Tommy Ka – released his debut album.

Finding perfection in the imperfections of life is an authentic, unfiltered art form. For Cadott High School grad Thomas Kann, the flaws found in everyday life take center stage in his latest music endeavor.

In October, Kann – stage name TommyKa – dropped his debut, full-length hip-hop album Imperfections, comprising 15 high-energy, vibey, and introspective tracks.

“This record is all about going through difficult things but pushing through everything and coming out the other side of it,” Kann said. “I got to the point where I felt so beat down that the only thing I could do was give it all and refuse to give in. There’s nothing to be afraid of if you just go all in.”

The album, Kann said, serves as an outlet for the negative energy he’s felt, manifesting those emotions into something that’s relatable to listeners. Based in Eau Claire, the 20-year-old producer and vocalist crafted the album in his home studio, resulting in standout songs such as “Approach,” “JustVibin,” and “ReVolt.” The record shares sonic similarities to modern rap powerhouses like Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, and J. Cole—all of which Kann credits as influences on his burgeoning music career.

“I’m a perfectionist, but I have imperfections I have to make peace with,” Kann said. “All I can do is keep doing my thing and be thankful for whatever comes next.”

And what’s next for the young MC? New music – which Kann says will blow his debut record out of the water.

Imperfections by TommyKa is available now on all major streaming platforms.
