Looking for a gem of a challenge? The Rock the Riverfront Classic Rock Hunt kicks off Monday, June 20 – that’s today! – at 10am. The first person to find the hidden rock will earn a cool $500.

Clues will be posted at a local charity and sponsor locations by 10am every day, and then on Royal Credit Union’s Facebook page at 8pm each evening. Locations could be in any county where partnering charities are located. This year’s charity partners are the Chippewa Valley Veterans Tribute Foundation in Eau Claire, Sofas for Service in Eau Claire, and Wisconsin Veterans Home at Chippewa Falls- Recreation Committee in Chippewa Falls.

The Rock Hunt is sponsored by Market & Johnson and is part of RCU’s annual Rock the Riverfront featuring the Charity Classic Event. This year’s Charity Classic offers in-person and virtual options and includes a 10K and 2-mile run/walk and a youth run/walk. To register for one or more of the races, head over to the race’s website or stop into the RCU Corporate Office on June 24 or 25. Early birds will save a few bucks too, with pre-registration offered until Thursday, June 23: $40 for the 10K and 2-mile race, and the youth half- and one-fourth-mile race being $15. Regular registration prices kick in on June 24: $45 for the 10K and 2-miler while the youth race price stays at $15.

As of 2021, Rock the Riverfront race had raised more than $300,000 for local charities, with this year's donations going towards veterans-focused causes. The foundation aims to donate more than $27,000 this year.
