Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend in the Valley With These Patriotic Events

Memorial Day Ceremony

Saturday, May 29 • 10:30am at Lakeview Cemetery, 11am at Forest Hill Cemetery

Members of various veteran organizations will hold short memorial and decoration ceremonies on Saturday.

Memorial Day Parade

Monday, May 31 • 9:30am • starting at Wilson Park, ending at the Haas Fine Arts parking lot, program to follow at Owen Park

Spread out and wear masks if you haven’t been vaccinated. There will be no candy throwing, because vaccines haven’t been approved for children under age 12.

Eau Claire Express Season Opener

Monday, May 31 • 7:05pm • Eau Claire Express Stadium – Carson Park • $5 for general admission, $29 fan deck

The Eau Claire Express are swinging in a new season with their Memorial Day opener against the Rochester Honkers. The Carson Park Stadium will be limited to 50% capacity, with attendees sectioning out in pods – whether they comprise family or friends, that’s up to you! Remember to mask up if you haven’t been vaccinated yet.

When it comes to concessions, the Eau Claire Express are partnering with the app Fan Booth to allow online ordering and pickup of your favorite baseball grub. Speaking of delicious eats, Jay Ray’s Deli of Eau Claire is also taking over the Best Seats in the House section of the Carson Park Fan Deck, where you and up to 20 friends can choose from one of 18 fresh subs paired with potato salad, famous Carson Park mac and cheese, potato chips, and the ballgame.

Third Annual Billy Noss Memorial Day Baseball Game

Monday, May 31 • 11am • Eau Claire Express Stadium – Carson Park • $5, students $1, kids 5 and under FREE

The Eau Claire Bears and Eau Claire Cavaliers will be holding this year's Billy Noss Memorial Day Game. All admissions, basket raffle, and a portion of the concessions proceeds will be donated to the Eau Claire Adult Special Olympics Agency #3-06 in honor of Billy Noss. A vest will be retired to commemorate Billy Noss during the seventh inning in collaboration with the Eau Claire Bears and Eau Claire Express. Basket raffle tickets sold for amazing items donated by the community and a 50/50 raffle will be awarded to one lucky winner.

Chippewa Valley Railroad Train Rides at Carson Park

Starting Monday, May 31 • noon-5pm • Carson Park • $3 for adults, $2 for children, FREE for ages 2 and under

Enjoy the first of many opportunities to take a scenic, half-mile train ride throughout Eau Claire’s premier Carson Park, presented by the Chippewa Valley Railroad Association. A coal-fired steam engine pulls one train, a G-16 gasoline powered-streamliner pulls the other. Check out more information at chippewavalleyrailroad.org.


Altoona

Chippewa Valley Veterans Tribute

Monday, May 31 • 1-2:30pm • River Prairie Park • FREE

Join the Chippewa Valley Veterans Tribute Foundation for the dedication of the Veterans Tribute – comprising the Legacy Stones, bronze artwork, and the Honor Mall. This event will include a Vietnam-era Huey Helicopter on display with a flyover taking place for the dedication. Enjoy the music of The Master Singers during the dedication ceremony, followed Kathy Reitz and 7Swing afterward. Shuttle buses will run throughout the event both before and after the event to take you to the tribute site and back to your car. Parking is available at River Prairie Park, with handicapped-accessible parking available behind River Prairie Apartments and at Bernicke Financial.


Menomonie

Memorial Day Picnic & Silent Auction

Monday, May 31 • 1:30-5pm • Alano Club of Menomonie (105 N. 21st St.) • FREE

Get your grub on at this year’s Memorial Day potluck, where the Alano Club of Menomonie will grill free brats and hamburgers outside, with a socially distant silent auction inside. Bidding opens at 1:30pm and closes at 3pm. Outdoor games, food, and fellowship is slated. Bring a dish to pass if you can! More information is available at menomoniealano.org.


Chippewa Falls

MadMURPH 2021 – Annual Memorial Day Murph for our Veterans

Monday, May 31 • 8-9am • Irvine Park • $5 donation suggested

Mad Shannon's Phit Shed is hosting MadMurph 2021, encouraging folks to do a one-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats, and another one-mile run. (Though, this workout can be modified and completed at your level!) If the weather is poor, it will be held indoors at Serenity Fitness in Cadott.
