The Clearwater Jazz & Art festival – a tandem jazz concert and art show will grace ClaireWaters Bar & Restaurant on Saturday, May 29. The restaurant (2106 N. Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire) will host jazz performers and visual artists from 12-5pm, featuring performances by Sweater People, Cathy Reitz & 7 Swing, and FlowT.

"Musicians want to be out there performing. ... Thankfully, the arts scene is starting to come back now, and it's giving people hope."

Leighton Hahn

Promoter, Clearwater Jazz & Art Festival

The Convention Center Art Show aspect of the festival will limit attendees to 60 people at a time. The festival is outdoors and free for all attendees. “Not being able to perform for so long has been really hard,” said Leighton Hahn, promoter for The ClearWater Jazz & Art Festival.

“Musicians want to be out there performing. ... Thankfully the arts scene is starting to come back now, and it’s giving people hope.”

In association with the festival, this summer is also the starting point for the L’Eau Claire Jazz Society, an organization Hahn is starting to benefit local jazz musicians who he said aren’t compensated well enough for their talents. The group is currently labeled as a business but is in the process of becoming a 501(c) nonprofit organization.

“We have so many great musicians here,” Hahn said. “I want this organization to become a source of support and aid for these players.”
