Warm Your Heart At the River Prairie Fest This May
Altoona's spring festival will include a rubber ducky race, food trucks, an art market, yoga in the park, and giant pumpkin growing seminars
Warmer weather and sunny skies kicks off an exciting new season of programming in River Prairie Park.
Check out the River Prairie Festival on May 8 from 10am-4pm, with live music, theater performances, an artist market, food trucks, family dance party, yoga in the park, plant giveaways, giant pumpkin growing seminars, and – get this! – a rubber ducky race. This community event “celebrates the start of warmer weather,” according to a media release, attracting locals to enjoy the gorgeous scenery of River Prairie Park.
Food trucks featured include Big Girl Food Truck, and 44 Below Ice Cream. Check out a giant pumpkin growing seminar, hosted by Engel’s Giant Pumpkin owner Shannon Engel. The first 50 participants to register will get a free pumpkin plant to get growing. And, join local birding expert Will Taylor for a curated birding walk. Just don’t forget your binoculars!
If you’re looking to move and groove, join in on a Family Dance Party or yoga in the part with Wendy Oberg. Or, get your creative side shining with a rock-painting event supporting #AltoonaRocks. Check out more about the event – and read about COVID-19 safety precautions – at riverprairiefest.com.
