AS DEER HUNTING SEASON HITS THE VALLEY, and locals grab their goods and guns to get out in the wilderness, one Wisconsinite saw a rare beauty in the great outdoors: an albino buck, which Tracy Weese spotted in her backyard in Boulder Junction in Vilas County. “His Majesty just strolled through our backyard,” Weese wrote on Facebook, sharing photos of the unique, recessive-trait: white fur. The Wisconsin DNR reminds hunters not to shoot all-white deer, as it’s illegal.

ever heard of the oxford english dictionary? You might appreciate that the OED could not pick a single word to describe 2020. In 2019, it was “climate emergency.” In 2018, it was “toxic.” The OED chose to, instead, have one word to describe each month of 2020: “bushfire” for January, when Austrailia suffered wildfires; various COVID-19 terms for March, and “Black Lives Matter” in June. What words would you use to describe 2020? We prefer: “dumpster fire.”

what would be your best day ever? For Lyle Abrahamson, a former Osseo-Fairchild bus driver, it would be driving his ol’ bus route one more time since being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Thanks to the Azura Memory Care’s Mosaic Dream program, which aims to give residents a “best day,” Abrahamson got to hop on a trusty yellow school bus and hit the asphalt once more. We’re thankful for wholesome stories like this one amid a turbulent year full of ... well, less wholesome news.
