Creating a quilt is a little like creating a masterpiece, and you’ll have the opportunity to see about 200 of them at this year’s Chippewa Valley Quilt Show from 9am-4pm on Oct. 3 and 4 at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds in Chippewa Falls.

“Quilting is very relaxing, and gives you a sense of accomplishment once you finish a project,” said Bessie Jensen, chairperson of the show. “There are so many patterns and ideas out there, they need exploring. The hunt for the perfect fabric, color, or pattern is half the fun.”

This is the sixth annual quilt show, presented by the Stitching Pals Quilt Group in Chippewa Falls. It will feature between 10-12 vendors. If additional quilters are interested in entering a quilt in the show, they can fill out an entry form at stitchingpals.com or by contacting Bev Woldhuis at bwoldhuis71@gmail.com.

“You become a part of these people’s families after you have joined a quilt group,” Jensen said, “you cry with them at their losses, you celebrate their good times, you learn to care about each other. You trade fabric, patterns, good times and bad.”

This year, there won’t be any food or fundraisers at the show, but there will be fun raffle giveaways. This is a great chance to bring kids along to learn about the art of sewing and quilting.

“This group does this like a well-oiled machine,” said new member Cindy Seipel.
