UW-Eau Claire grad Grant Maierhofer is releasing two books, Works and a collaborative title Collected Voices in the Expanded Field this month. 11:11 Press asked 34 writers, including Maierhofer, to write for Collected Voices in the Expanded Field, which comes out June 27. Every section, Maierhofer said, begins with the same sentence, and the writers could interpret the line and write about what they wanted.

“It was strange,” Maierhofer said, “... On the one hand every writer who contributed did have total freedom, but there was also this sense of wanting to write something that could possibly feed what the other writers might be doing.”

He said it was a nice change of pace to write while he worked on editing his other book, Works, which compiles many of his old and re-written works into one volume and came out on June 16.

“I think of Works as a sort of time capsule of the different things I’ve tried to do as a writer,” Maierhofer said. “Some felt more successful than others, but I think they all represent things I believe writing can do.”
