iPIEROGI: Minnesota-based truck serves up authentic Polish eats

Rebecca Mennecke |

iPierogi, a family-owned and operated pierogi truck, arrived in America from Poland 25 years ago and has been serving authentic, homemade Polish food to hungry Midwesterners ever since. After gaining popularity at the Twin Cities Polish Festival, Holidazzle Village in Minneapolis, and the European Christmas Market in Saint Paul, this Minnesota-based food truck is ready to serve up some good eats in Eau Claire this year at Food Truck Friday. They’ll feature their pierogies (stuffed dumplings – imagine Eastern European ravioli) as well as Polish sausage, stuffed cabbage (Gołabki), and crepes (Nalesniki). Robert Luniewski – who owns iPierogi with his wife, Renata – said their most popular items are their pierogies, followed closely by Polish sausage and stuffed cabbage. Their menu contains no shortage of variety: When it comes to pierogies there are potato and cheese, meat, and vegetarian varieties. “Pierogies are what we’re known for,” Luniewski said. One thing that makes iPierogi’s pierogies special is that they’re made fresh. “It’s all natural ingredients,” Luniewski said. “It’s not easy. It’s a time-consuming process.” He said making pierogies is something his grandmother and mother did, and now he follows in their footsteps. Sometimes their daughter joins him and his wife in making pierogies, too. Find iPierogi at Food Truck Friday in Phoenix Park on June 7.
