The Western Dairyland Fresh Start Program helps build strong communities by involving at-risk young adults, ages 17 to 25, in the construction and rehabilitation of homes in western Wisconsin. The most important goals of the Fresh Start program are to help youth find their way toward self-sufficiency and to build self-esteem through accomplishment. What better way to celebrate these young people and those in our community than throwing an event just for them! 360 Drop-In, a free event for all youth, will be 11am-5pm Saturday, July 15, at Lakeshore Skate Plaza on the corner of Broadway Street and Ninth Avenue. There will be a “best trick” format skateboard competition judged by Passion Board Shop. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced skaters are welcome, with skating prizes for the top three in each skill level. Registration for the competition will start at 11am. If they’re under 18, skaters will need to have a parent or guardian present to sign a waiver. If you’re not talented on a skateboard, you can cheer others on, play games, and speak with representatives from local nonprofit organizations, including Western Dairyland Community Action Agency, Western Dairyland Fresh Start, The YMCA, Smile House, Lutheran Social Services, and Q2. Attendees who visit booths will receive raffle tickets to enter into a free prize drawing. Prizes are donated by local businesses such as Wagner’s, Bug Eyed Betty’s, Menomonie Street Dairy Queen, the Children’s Museum of Eau Claire, and more! In addition to all of this excitement there will be free pizza from Toppers. 360 Drop-In is sponsored in part by Passion Board Shop, Royal Credit Union, Marshfield Clinic, Marine Credit Union, and Time Federal Savings Bank. This is an event you won’t want to skate past, so drop in on all the fun July 15!
