With this issue, we officially declare the transition into fall – everyone’s favorite (or at least second favorite?) time of the year. The summer is long gone, kids are back at school, and routines are setting in. Soon leaves will be turning, evenings will get a little cooler, and the old fireplace will start to look good again. Packed inside these pages you’ll find not one but two special sections geared just for this time of the year. The first, Fall Harvest (on page 29), puts at your fingertips all the information you and yours need to plan the perfect autumnal adventures over the next several weeks. Apple orchards, pumpkin patches, hiking trails, foliage drives, corn mazes, wineries and more – it’s all in there to help you get outside and live it up. Next (on page 39) comes our annual look at the culture of the gridiron – Football Fever. Whether you love it or just like it, football is a big part of Wisconsin life each fall and an unavoidable cultural force. Those pages explore all that, including where to catch the big games and all the local schedules and happenings. Fall also means the much-anticipated return of the Night Market at The Local Store (see info page 53), and soon, the opening of The Oxbow Hotel and The Lakely, right across the street from Volume One. Stay tuned for more soon.
