As this season of the Sounds Like Summer Concert Series on Thursdays in Phoenix Park draws to a close, we did a little math. Once you add up nine seasons and account for the rain out dates, turns out this summer’s final show on Aug. 28 is also the 100th concert we’ve held there on the banks of the Chippewa River. It blows my mind a little bit. And with three acts playing most of those evenings, that’s a lot of local music. Pretty cool if you think about it. That night’s event is shaping up to be a doozy already with featured sets from perennial favorites including reagae act Irie Sol and some rock from the Jim Pullman Band. But once you throw in a few fun extras to commemorate the 100 mark – it’s gonna be one not to miss. Thanks to those of you who’ve made those Thursday nights a part of your summer routine for years now. You’ve helped make the event what it is, and given it the life it needed to make it for decades into the future. See you at the park!
