A true power couple in the world of Eau Claire art will be joining forces at the Volume One Gallery, 205 N. Dewey St., with a new show in January and February. Anders and Barbara Shafer, both professors emeriti at UW-Eau Claire, will present their paintings in the Eau Claire gallery. Barbara Shafer has spent most of her life illustrating dancers in broad, colorful pieces, using the figures to “sculpt the environment.” Anders Shafer’s paintings are bright, colorful pieces with multiple scenes reminiscent to the layout of a comic book or graphic novel, with a strong sense of narrative and history, often with recurring characters that play throughout the canvas. The artists will have an opening reception on Jan. 10 from 6:30-8:30pm. The show is slated to run through Mar. 1.
