We’ve been experimenting a bit more with live streaming events from the Volume One Gallery online, and archiving them on the website for on-demand viewing as well. We’ve dabbled in this before, but one of the things we’d hoped to do with the launching of our larger store and gallery was feature more of the performances, talks, and other events live on the homepage of VolumeOne.org. That effort got new legs in September with the streaming of a recent Confluence Project press conference from our gallery. It continued with a stream of Mike Paulus’ Rear End reading and will happen again on Wednesday, Oct. 16 when we webcast Frank Smoot’s Thanks for Asking event at 7pm. Eventually we hope to have an array of gallery events ready to watch on what could amount to a web-based TV channel on VolumeOne.org. We’ve never been particularly interested in being “just a magazine.” While the printed mag is at the core of what we do, we’ve always tried to experiment beyond those borders to discover how we could be of further benefit to the community. A website is a pretty standard extension at this point, but the events, store, gallery, and other experiments help us stay relatively fresh and a bit different than most media. And producing videos and live streams are just another way we try to keep our creative juices flowing. So “tune in” when you can. We’d appreciate your feedback.
