Now that it’s finally, completely, and totally spring (seriously this time), we can all exhale and move on with our lives. This seemed to be a particularly brutal winter from a community-wide “seasonal affective disorder” sort of perspective. Everyone was just bummed out, and for good reason. So now it feels amazing to soak up some warmth and sun – resetting our perspective in a new and more optimistic light. As for the (final) melt we’ve just had, it certainly seems to have done its part to remind us all of the majesty of our rivers. And to me, the Eau Claire River in particular. We can see it clearly from our office windows and for weeks now we’ve been in awe of its abnormal levels and power. Though it certainly comes with some dangers, it’s nice these bodies have a chance to flex their muscles and get our attention each year – because they deserve more of it. Some days it’s hard not to get philosophical as you watch it all rush under a downtown bridge or notice it lapping up startlingly close to the bike trail. But as it always does, it will recede soon and things will be back to normal. Just like this transition into spring. Enjoy it.
