Everyone has a special place in their heart for the ’80s power ballad. Whether it’s the Poison song in the jukebox at your favorite college bar or the Whitesnake tune that your dad played in his truck every day before dropping you off at school, there’s something about the big synth chords and lighter-raising guitar solos that tug at the heartstrings. On April 12, you’ll get a chance to relive those songs with Power Balladz: The Ultimate 80s Sing-a-long coming to the Heyde Center in Chippewa Falls. The show features a band playing your favorite ballads, along with fun interactive games, like a Lyric Challenge, all amidst an impressive stage and light show that puts you right back into that leather vest and bandana we all know you still have tucked in your closet. The current line-up features three singers who alternate, making sure the songs stay true to their original vocal style – whether Axl Rose or Bret Michaels. The line-up also features a local connection: The Heyde Center show will be a homecoming for drummer Zach Brawford, a Chippewa Falls native. So if you think you’re ready for a night of belting out your favorite lyrics and reliving a great era in music, this is probably the show for you.
