Huge Hip-hop
Ludacris collaborator headed to House of Rock
Move… and get out the way for the House of Rock’s hip-hop show on August 25. You’ve heard of Ludacris, 50 Cent, and Trina – well you won’t be seeing any of them, but some of these fellows have worked directly with the aforementioned. Headlining the show is I-20, who is most known for his appearing in songs by Ludacris, most notably for his line in “Move bitch” in 2002. I-20 is part of Ludacris’s “Disturbing Tha Peace (DTP)” Label. In 2004, his first album hit number 42 on the Billboard 200 charts and ranked number five in Billboard Top R&B/hip-hop albums. He has previously described his own music as being more serious and “in your face.” Joining I-20 on his nationwide tour is Madison’s very own DJ Pain 1, a producer and DJ. He has produced hits for artists such as 50 cent, Young Jeezy and Gucci Mane. In 2011 he was nominated for two Underground Music Awards: DJ of the Year and Producer of the Year. In between making music, DJ Pain 1 has also found the time to earn a masters degree in applied linguistics and continues to host a hip-hop radio show in Madison. Bringing it even closer to home, local rapper Syndrome will be hitting the stage. Best known for his hit anti-bullying single, “The Untold Story,” Syndrome just signed on to Tate Music Group. The single is set to be released September along accompanied by a music video featuring Memorial High School students. Syndrome’s CD will be available in retail stores across the nation by October. These three hip-hoppers are just the tip of the iceberg; also performing will be J-Illa, Money Mo, Evolusion, Suspicious Entertainment, Mr. Pizzy, and Time to Shine Entertainment.
