Imagine yourself hungry for adventure on a slightly chilly Sunday afternoon ... maybe you’re just out of church, or just out of bed. But this day is a basketball, and you are compelled to give it a backboard-shattering slam dunk with a fist pump finish. So if you’re hungry for adventure, or just plain hungry, you must attend the International Folk Fair. Presented annually in the fall, the International Folk Fair is a massive celebration of international culture. The fair features more than 40 countries and cultures exhibiting educational posters, live music, dramatic performances, art, videos, activities, dancing, slideshows, and, best of all, lots of international foods. So maybe you feel like a German-style bratwurst with Bolivian peach juice and a Danish kringle. Or maybe you feel like joining an African drum circle, or plumbing the depths of Lebanese history, or catching up on the latest in Korean pop music. You select your level of involvement. Admission is free, and visitors who tour each exhibit may have their (fake) passport stamped at each exhibition to show they have learned something. This is one of the biggest events of its kind in the Chippewa Valley, so for smarts or for stomach, take it all in.
