European TV Personality Swears He Found Mona

Lauryn Seering |

Every once in a while, you get a person who pops up in the news saying they’ve found the tomb of someone rich and famous. Well, former Italian television producer Silvano Vinceti has rehashed that old cliché. He’s apparently found the bones of the Lisa Gherardini, who is thought to be the inspiration for the Mona Lisa. But get this: he hasn’t even dug her up yet. Using ground-penetration radar to search (this is similar to what anthropologists use at the Egyptian and Mayan ruins to leave corpses undisturbed), Vinceti is convinced by a skull fragment that he has the right woman. This is all ironic, considering back in February he proposed the fact that the model for the Mona Lisa was actually a male; more specifically Leonardo’s apprentice Gian Giacomo Caprotti. Who else calls B.S.?
