A little chunk of meaty Chicago goodness is working its way into Eau Claire. As of April 12, Samboney’s Hot Dog Stand opened its doors at 1907 Brackett Ave. featuring classic Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian sausage, Polish sausage, and gyros from Red Hot Meat manufacturers. Chicago native and owner Sam Van Sky is bringing his eight years of chef experience, along with his brother and sister-in law, to the stand. The brothers thought the location on Brackett (previously home to Seattle Pride Coffee) was a perfect space with the traffic and nearby schools. This is the only authentic Chicago-style shop in town, Van Sky says, and they come complete with French fries and fresh cornmeal rolled, meat filled tamales. The brothers have always wanted to own their own hot dog shop and restaurant, and on May 1 they will host a Grand Opening celebration with discounts, coupons, and other offers to introduce their shop to the area. The average price range is pretty friendly, just $3 to $5.25.
