Eau Claire Uprising
a local effort to promote metal shows and happenings

Is metal in need of a savior? On a global scale I remember reading how Gojira were going to save death metal and Enforcer were going to save traditional heavy metal, even though both styles have been doing just fine. What about on a local scale? 2010 seemed like one of the best years yet for metal in EC. We had national acts like Goatwhore, Jungle Rot, Lightning Swords of Death, Rumpelstiltskin Grinder, and the Dirty Rotten Imbeciles at the House of Rock. Locally, bands like Desolatevoid, Defenestrator, Purge the Woods, and Nailed Shut (Twin Cities) were shredding axes and faces. So when it came to my attention there was some site out there promoting an Eau Claire Uprising on behalf of metal, I was skeptical. Well, shame on me. The following is taken from their mission statement: “We want E.C. Uprising to be your #1 stop for information about upcoming local shows, bands, albums, etc! If there’s a show coming up, you’re going to read about it on our events page!” They (thankfully) lack the hubris to see themselves as (local) metal’s saviors. Simply, they want to promote metal and see more people turn out to shows. Their cold, blackened hearts are entirely in the right place, and their Facebook page is worthy of your time. Spread the word. Facebook.com/ecUprising.
