A rare glimpse into the band’s shared bedroom.

Let’s get past one thing right now: This Wednesday night business. Wednesday nights do not regularly inspire thoughts like most excellent concert experience or whiskey a-go-go, but both are happening at the House of Rock on March 2. There’s much to be said about maintaining a decent sleep schedule, and your Thursday morning meeting is very important, but let me tell you what’s at stake here. This Minneapolis band, Roster McCabe, is a funk, reggae, and jam rock extravaganza. Their songs are grand, smooth, and spacey dance-jam soundscapes, and stratospheric funk rock numbers commanded by keyboardist Alex Steele’s soulful singing talents and the sexy licks and squeals from Michael Baum’s Fenders and Gibsons. Roster McCabe tour the nation in an unrelenting crusade to spread their sound far and wide, and promote Through Space and Time, the band’s second studio album released last December. They’ve performed with Wookiefoot, the Mark Joseph Project, Shoeless Revolution, The Brew, Kinetix, DJ Logic, PB & the Jam, and Bernie Worrell (of Parlaiment Funkadelic and Talking Heads). Roster’s last Eau Claire show was on a Wednesday night and performed to a local crowd of almost 100. What was good music worth to them? What is good music worth to you?
